How to use discount codes online

With Valentine’s Day approaching and our homepage filling every day with roses, chocolate hearts and hosiery, we decided the time was right to address the regular use of coupons online. After all, what good is that coupon and the efforts we put in screening it if you cannot use it as intended, get frustrated and tell your friends before even asking for our help? Not that any of you would be doing that, with our constant presence on Twitter and on the phone, but let’s go over things again just to be on the safe side. Here is our step-by-step guide to using coupon codes online:

1. Browse www.dtcdeals.com using categories, tags or stores to find deals and coupons that match your shopping plans. You can trust our Search box to get you sorted as well, especially if looking for brands or services that might be on offer from different stores. Make a note of the discount code you want to use, or even better, keep that page open until you are done.

2. Click on the “Click here to get this deal” or on the coupon image to open a new page on the site featuring the newly found discount code.

3. Shop online as you normally would if you do not land right on the product page (happens if the code applies to a single or limited number of products).

4. Add the products to the shopping cart, paying attention to quantities and any other specific information (like bundled products, warranty options, sales or delivery restrictions).

5. Once you are done shopping, go to your shopping cart page or proceed to checkout – at one of this stages you should normally see a box in which to enter your discount code.

6. Click on “Update” or “Recalculate” after entering the code. Your discount will be applied and the new total displayed. Resume the checkout and pay for your items as normal. Whether using a coupon code or not, write down the transaction/order number to have trace of the purchase until the payment is confirmed.

Why should you use DTCdeals.com rather than other discount codes sites?

We are compliant from launch with the Internet Advertising Bureau’s Code of Best Practice* – meaning we will ALWAYS feature the expiration date of discount codes or promotional deals (providing we have been supplied with the information from the retailers). Some sites keep showing expired codes deliberately and you will waste your time trying to apply a discount code that has been deactivated.

Some sites hide the code under a link saying “Click to reveal discount codes” – even when no codes exist! Once again this wastes your time. We simply don’t do this, our discount codes are always visible for everybody to see. We don’t like being forced to click, and we will not force you to either!

And last – if you did all the above and the code is not working for you, let us know! We engage directly with over 200 retailers to screen and validate these coupons – helping you is “part of the deal”!
